Quality training for the individual
  
The Working Student Scheme enables students to combine training with work experience.

Training is given towards British Horse Society Stage Examinations and Preliminary Teaching Test. It consists of four sessions of riding and four sessions of stable management per week, plus practical stable management. At a later date, time is spent teaching students the 250 hours required by the BHS to obtain the BHS Assistant Instructor qualification.

All students are individually and personally monitored by our Chief Instructor, Mrs. Dee Roth Brown BHSI. When students are ready they will be entered for the British Horse Society examination, which may be taken at Rycroft throughout the year. Examination fees are paid by Rycroft after an initial period of four months training.

Courses normally last for one to one-and-a-half years. Having successfully completed training to BHS Assistant Instructor level, students may continue at Rycroft as a member of staff, training to BHS Stage IV, or they may wish to move on - perhaps training in a different branch of horses, thus widening their experience.

General

• Students receive a weekly wage, currently £60-£140 per week, dependent on age.

• Excellent local accommodation can be arranged if required.

• Students work five-and-a-half days per week. Days off to be arranged. Working hours: Normal weekdays and weekends:  7.30 am - 5.30 pm. Exam days: 6.30 am - 5.30 pm. One hour for lunch plus tea/coffee breaks.

• Days off are given in lieu of Bank Holidays worked. There is one late night per week, but time is given off during the day. Holiday entitlement: one day per full month worked.

• Clothing as per clothing list. We have a Clothing Shop which stocks essential items.
